About Ford Tractors
Ford Tractor history begins with Henry Ford, who started experimenting with gasoline engines around 1890 and built his first gas automobile in 1896. In 1907, Henry built his first experimental work tractor and eventually created the Fordson tractor under the new company, Henry Ford & Son. By 1920, the distribution of the Fordson shifted to the Ford Motor Company, leading to the production of many tractor models over the years.
The Early Tractors
- The Ford model 9N tractor, introduced in mid-year 1939, was a joint venture between Henry Ford and Harry Ferguson, featuring the 3 point hitch and hydraulic system designed by Ferguson.
- The model 2N, produced between 1942-1947, was built without electrical components and rubber tires due to wartime material shortages.
- The model 8N, made between 1947-1952, was the result of the first major redesign since 1939, featuring significant improvements and a new paint color.
