Introduction to the BMW twins:
This manual covers the BMW twins, which were first introduced in 1969 to replace the R50/60/69S Earles Fork models. The new machines featured a plain-bearing crankshaft, electric starter, and crankshaft-mounted alternator. The frame and suspension were also updated to provide a more conventional appearance and a comfortable ride. While the basic design of the machines remained unchanged, various modifications were made throughout their production life to keep up with the competition and offer a wider range of options.
