Instrument Cluster Natural Gas Vehicle
WARNING: Do not modify the system configuration or components or replace components with parts not specially designed for use with natural gas. Using different parts or materials can be dangerous and may result in fire, personal injury, or engine damage.
WARNING: It is important to have your natural gas vehicle properly maintained by trained personnel. If a problem occurs, it should be diagnosed by trained technicians. Using incorrect parts can cause damage and may void your warranty.
NOTE: Routine service under base warranty procedures applies to all standard production components and systems.
The natural gas fuel indication system consists of the following components:
- Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) module
- Fuel gauge located in the instrument cluster
- Fuel tank pressure sensor
- Tank temperature sensor
- Necessary circuitry
Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) Module
The NGV module assembly:
- Consists of a 60-pin module, bracket, marine cover, and four marine cover retainers
- Houses unique electronics for natural gas fuel systems
- Located on the LH inner fender well, behind the coolant recovery bottle
The NGV module assembly performs the following functions:
Injector drivers: Accepts eight unmodified injector signals from the powertrain control module (PCM) and allows a peak-and-sustain current to flow through the injector solenoids.
Fuel gauge driver: Uses tank temperature and fuel tank pressure inputs to calculate the fuel density and output signal to the fuel gauge.
